Problem & Solution: Generating Answers to Sub Questions
There are a million little things that bother me about legal research. Cycling through a list of questions in my head every time I open a case is just one example. Here's how we are fixing it.
The Problem
When you do legal research, you likely have a growing list of sub-issues that you keep track of in your head. Here is a concrete example. You start with a query:
And the sub-issues you really care about: What was the duration of the non-compete? What was its geographic coverage? Did the employee agree to it before or after starting work?
Remembering what each decision says about each of these sub-issues is hard. What if it was easier?
The Solution
We built a feature on midpage that allows you to extract answers and relevant quotes about each sub-issue from every case you come across.
Once entered, you can generate answers—accompanied by hyperlinked source quotes—directly from your search result. You can always remove, add, or edit your list of questions.
